Shein creates a furor with its physical stores in Barcelona. The Asian fashion giant announced its opening in the Catalan capital at the end of November. The most popular establishment is located at number 241 on Calle de Rosselló, but there is another store at number 1 on Calle de Pelai.
The lesser-known store, which is defined as a Shein outlet, appears to dedicate a floor exclusively to the brand's products. However, as in its other store, the references of the low cost firm are mixed with items from Shana, Double Agent and other unknown brands. Among all of them, the percentage of Shein products is much lower than the rest.
The premises in which it is located are on the ground floor of a two-storey premises. The aim of the store is to offer surplus stocks and returns at significant discounts.
The prices are not as low as on the website because the extra costs of a physical store must be taken into account. However, its claim is the offers of products at prices ranging from 2 to 10 euros. The price is similar to that of other brands, except for Double Agent, which is a little more expensive.
Another difference of the new establishment is that it has more accessories than in its other store, such as mobile phone covers or sunglasses. In the Rosselló store they only have some jewelry and especially hats, although they are mostly from other brands. In addition, they also have men's clothing, children's clothing and also sell items with defects.
Going down the stairs, there is a large sign that specifies that it is an outlet of the digital giant. But arriving in space the impression is very different: all the clothes have the same label and it is not assimilated at all to the Shein digital catalog. Despite the great interest that both physical stores of the brand arouse in social networks, several users assure that neither of them is worth it.
As the store on Calle de Pelai is not as well known, most criticisms and reviews fall on the establishment on Calle de Rosselló. There, the experience of the vast majority of customers has not been good.
"Today I went and what a great disappointment, it's a hoax," says a user in a criticism of the store. “Everything expensive and worn, it looks like clothes taken from a bazaar”, comments another buyer. Another buyer affirms that "the brand is being discredited with this trade" and that the products "look second-hand". The rain of criticism is constant on Google and the most generalized comment is "I'm not going back".
Shein settles in Shana's pop-up stores. In this case, the premises were previously occupied by the Blanco brand, which closed all its stores years ago. Currently, the building belongs to the luxury real estate Lux Habitat, which bought the building for seven million euros.
Shana closed its physical stores and opted for the temporary store model after the pandemic. The new managers of the Barcelona brand reached an agreement with Shein's suppliers to sell surplus items and returns from the Chinese online platform in their physical stores.
