In English | Change is coming: it is summer and there are more people vaccinated, who, coming out of confinement, have things to sell. A challenging and chaotic year has led many to re-evaluate what is most important in their lives, how and where they want to live, and who they want to be around. A 2020 survey by the Pew Research Center found that 22% of adults in the country — more than 1 in 5 — said they have moved because of the pandemic or know someone who has.
Those moves have prompted those in transition to heavily purge their personal belongings, which has been a boon to yard and garage sale enthusiasts. Whether you're looking to outfit your new retirement home, your vacation cabin, or your children's or grandchildren's first apartment, or just like to shop around for great deals, now's a great time to be on the lookout for incredible bargains. that will save you money.
"Garage sales are popping up again, and the good thing is that they're outdoors," says Ava Seavey, author of Ava's Guide to Garage Sale Gold. “Post-pandemic sales are about the same as pre-pandemic sales, but there is more pent-up demand.” And some items that were expensive during the pandemic could now appear on garage sale tables.
