Program for the European Night of Researchers at Alcázar

The rector of the University of Cádiz, Francisco Piniella;the mayor of Jerez, Mamen Sánchez;and the Vice Chancellor for Scientific and Technological Policy, Mª Jesús Mosquera, will open today Friday 24, at 6:30 p.m., the European night of the researchers at the Alcázar de Jerez.More than fifty activities, with the involvement of a hundred researchers from the UCA, will be developed in face -to -face and online format, including children's workshops, micro scientific meetings and exhibitions. The tastings will be in the convent of San Agustín.

The Alcazar will be the epicenter of this event of scientific dissemination between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.and nine scientific micro-scientists in network.Participation in all activities will require prior appointment through registration on the website of the European night of the UCA researchers.

The Vice -Rectorate for Scientific and Technological Policy of the UCA, from its Unit of Scientific Culture and Innovation of the UCA (UCC+I) and the financing of the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities of the Junta de Andalucía,Through the Discover Foundation, it organizes the European night of the UCA researchers, dedicated this year to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that marks the UN.

The program of activities in the Alcazar is as follows:

Sea-eu: the seas that surrounds us

Sea-Eu cities are surrounded by water, two seas and an ocean. With that background scenario we want to explain that not all seas are the same: the effect of rains and unequal evaporations make a sea more salty and a sweeter, resulting in countless differences (color, fauna, float ...).We will see by a practical experiment the density of the water and we will discover that all this also influences the accumulation of plastics in the sea, introducing the importance of this environmental problem.Recommended age: 5 to 10 years.

Eight scheduled sessions from 6:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m..

We draw and feel

Inclusive workshop in which we invite all people without making a difference in age, sex or other condition, characteristic or disability. We are going to perform artistic drawing exercises feeling different types of music and interpreting what we feel through body movements. In this way we will create drawings with different materials and in different spaces and supports. We use silence to internalize emotions and feelings that we subsequently capture. We digitize some of our activities so that actions are not ephemeral. We work with the senses, the body, emotions and artistic drawing, applying movement and action. We recommend black comfortable clothes.Recommended age: For all audiences.

Eight scheduled sessions from 6:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m..

The secret life of the sediment

Programa de actividades de la Noche Europea de los Investigadores en el Alcázar

The objective of the workshop is to familiarize you with the great richness of life forms that usually live in marine sediments, many of which go unnoticed. We will learn how they interact with each other and how human activities can disturb the operation of the system. In addition, and in particular, we will try to show the importance of microorganisms for the functioning of our planet. All this will be done through a street game where each participant will assume the role of an ecosystem component.Recommended age: 5 to 10 years.

Eight scheduled sessions from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m..

INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICAL OCEANOGRAPHY

This workshop intends to bring citizens some experiments that allow us to understand theoretical concepts and phenomena that take place in the marine environment.Among these, experiments will be done to demonstrate the concepts of stratification and flotability, the biological and physical implications of stratification, or the effects of climate change on the coast.Recommended age: For all audiences.

Eight scheduled sessions from 18: 45 to 10:15 p.m..

Have fun with science!

Workshop for 'small scientists' of ages between 5 and 10 years, who will overcome a series of scientific challenges with their batters and glasses.

Eight scheduled sessions from 18: 30 to 10:00 p.m..

How a 3D printer works: manufacturing from scratch everything you can imagine

In this activity we will teach how to design a piece from zero for later manufacturing with a 3D printer. The material used in these impressions is pla (lactic polycid), a non -toxic and biodegradable polymeric material, which contributes to improve the environment. In addition, there will be various exhibition pieces made with different technologies, to demonstrate that 3D printing covers a wide range of different techniques. In addition, we will make special emphasis on the use and development of new recycled materials, biobasted resources as alternatives to oil derived plastics, promoting the circular and local economy and the decrease in carbon footprint.Recommended age: all audiences.

Eight scheduled sessions from 18: 45 to 10:15 p.m..

Brain magic

Various activities adapted for all ages are proposed: neuro-trivial: perhaps based on questions related to neuroscience; designs your brain: crafts based on the realization and composition of brain structures;Approach the neuron: Put your visual and auditory sharpness by visualization of different types of neurons and sound of nerve impulse; visual games: discover how the brain works through optical illusions.

Our goal is to bring research in neurosciences developed by the research group in Neuropharmacharmacology and Psychobiology, from the laboratory to the general public in an informative and enjoyable way, with activities for all ages.We will have photocalls to boost space and encourage participation, informative posters will be developed to inform, raise awareness and increase sensitization with respect to mental health, drugs and brain disorders, what is a neuroscientist?.

Eight scheduled sessions from 18: 30 to 10:00 p.m..

The puzzle of your head

The activity will consist of presenting two brain areas in a two -dimensional Puzzle mode.Different types of neurons that we can find and other cell types in the brain will also be shown in cardboard, and explain according to the age/interest of the public the functions they perform.Recommended age: For all audiences.

Eight scheduled sessions from 6:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m..

Health is funny

Within 'health is fun, they will offer several subtalleres:

Recommended age: For all audiences.

Eight scheduled sessions from 18: 30 to 10:00 p.m..

Miniature agriculture: Urban Huertos Workshop

The objective of this workshop is to promote citizen participation in activities that favor a sustainable urban environment, through the creation of small urban orchards at home and with recycled materials. In addition, with these types of activities it is intended to disseminate and encourage citizens, especially among children, the need for healthy, sustainable and respectful feeding with the environment.Your roof or balcony can become perfect places to start your first urban garden. Aprende a cultivar tus propias hortalizas y ¡reconecta con la naturaleza!Recommended age: For all audiences.

'Focus your central research services: promoting scientific excellence (II edition)'

After the success of the first edition in 2020, with about 60 participating images, it returns the ‘focuses your central research services, 2nd edition’.Its objective is to give greater visibility to our scientific infrastructure to the general public.Through the winning photographs of a contest among researchers, we will show the incredible elements we use to discover the secrets of science at our university.

'Wax: History fabrics'

This exhibition aims to make visible the work that from the Department of French and English Philology of the UCA is made especially in relation to writing and African culture. It is made up of about twenty enlightened panels, accompanied by pieces of these fabrics, where its history and significance are summarized in a summary way. These are cheerful, colorful and colorful textile pieces that sometimes enclose hidden messages related to African culture and its most immediate environment: family, marriage, daily tasks or nature. The term wax means 'wax' and comes from that soft touch that has the tissue that was then used and rough.

'Illustrated scientific projects'

Exhibition that mixes illustration and science, visually reflecting the center of different research that is being carried out in projects of the University of Cádiz. The projects that are presented are: Alehop, Bizente, Digforasp, Esteem3, Green Diamond, Innovaconcrete, Rec2SST, COLLECNISED, STIMEY, TREATME AND WATER2RETURN.
