The family of Luciano Arruga, the young man who was tortured and murdered by members of the Buenos Aires Police, will carry out a new mobilization for the thirteenth anniversary of his kidnapping, in the Matanzas town of Lomas del Mirador, which will start from the intersection of the avenues General Paz and Mosconi, starting at 6:00 p.m. next Sunday, January 30.
In communication with El1 Digital, the victim's sister, Vanesa Orieta, explained: "At the time of suffering this aberrant crime, she was 16 years old, for this reason, we marched with the intention of continuing to make her cause visible and the processes that have been initiated as a result. of his enforced disappearance. Let it be understood that Luciano is the example of a very serious problem that we have been suffering from the opening of democracy until today and that especially affects children, adolescents and young people from impoverished neighborhoods.
In addition, she stressed that the objective is to be able to break with "the invisibility and silencing" that they state is imposed on the families that organize to fight and denounce the different logics of state repression. "This means torturing, setting up causes, shooting, disappearing the human lives of poor people who have previously been discriminated against and criminalized because of the place they live, the clothes they wear or the color of their skin," she said.
“Luciano was affected by this logic of discrimination and criminalization, he had to say no to going out to steal for the Police and it was this refusal that generated systematic violence in his life that finally ended with his forced disappearance on January 31, 2009”, he stated.
On the other hand, he announced that they will install signs, with the purpose of being able to "continue to generate awareness and make visible the cases of repression", which will go to the former detachment of the aforementioned town, where the victim was tortured, and which, currently, works as a cultural space in defense of the rights of children, adolescents and young people.
Regarding the cause, he explained that it was labeled "Forced disappearance of a person" and has been in the investigation stage for thirteen years, where the Justice is investigating the reasons for the fact. "This causes us great wear and tear, we have to go through many years of judicial processes loaded with impunity, which creates a very difficult path to reach the truth and condemn all responsibilities," Orieta said.
Lastly, he explained that they also denounced three Buenos Aires officials eight years ago for having "generated irreparable damage" in the investigation processes and that, currently, they are waiting for the Jury of Prosecution of Magistrates of the Nation to resolve the situation. , declaring as "admissible" said complaint.
