"The future of fashion should be on horseback between ethical and sustainable fashion, which takes into account environmental, animal and human rights aspects, and the second -hand market," explains the head of Slowcracy, who adds that "You cannot or should consume this type of products continuously because it would end up becoming fast fashion. Thus, an ideal model would be to bet on second -hand stores or exchange with friends and family for day -to -day garments and acquire new products from sustainable brands.
Alonso is Vegan and this led her to consider her consumption at a general level: not only ceased to eat or dress with animal products, but investigated the fast fashion to change other habits."The fashion industry is the second most polluting in the world because a lot of clothing is consumed, something that is encouraged from the industry itself," says the head of the firm.
This causes a consumption of water and chemicals, among other elements, very high, to which the emissions and waste generated throughout the process should be added, since it is created until the garment is discarded."That together with the fact that in Europe we stay with the good part while other countries get the worst," adds Alonso.
This situation is linked to the defense of ethics that Slowcracy does, which avoids materials such as wool or leather."I want you to carry fabrics that are sustainable, because there are such as polyester or other oil derivatives that are harmful for both the skin and the environment," says Alonso. But not only that: this Galician brand also takes care of the people in charge of making their products.
Thus Slowcracy was born in January 2020, as a line of fair trade, feminist, vegan, environmental and LGTBI t -shirts.Made with organic cotton, their sales were stopped with the emergence of Coronavirus pandemic.Far from intimidating, Alonso decided to train industrial pattern and bet on the manufacture of sustainable masks by the hand and seamstresses in the area, which allows him to control every detail and develop a "much more unique" product.
"We have no size limit," explains the owner of Slowcracy. This is possible thanks to the local work of the brand, which has the best selling sizes in stock but offers the possibility of preparing each garment according to the needs of its customers.«If someone needs a 3xs, it is scale.A size 32, which is difficult to find in a store, we do it to that person. It has happened to us to have 2xs or 5xl », exemplifies the head of the firm, which adds:« As a feminist woman and against Gordobophia and gender stereotypes, inclusiveness is super important. It is difficult to find sustainable, ethical and vegan clothes in certain sizes and we do not want that to be a barrier ».
Precisely, this week four new garments of the Galician company go on sale.A skirt, a short and a two -colored crop will become part of the catalog of this innovative signature that seeks to take care of their workers, animals and the environment.«The Crop Top is very cool.It is reversible, so you can put the neckline on the front or the rear.We try to take a turn so that the garments are very functional, ”explains the head of the brand.
Slowcracy sells especially through its website, although some of its products can be purchased in stores in the Baixo Miño area.Alonso's goal is to have small businesses throughout Spain to market their garments, which are also sent to other countries such as the United Kingdom or Italy. All this, of course, without neglecting workers while offering innovative products in which respect for animals and sustainability are fundamental pillars.
