For years, Christmas has been a time to share with the family, give thanks, and above all, give. That is why several companies have the tradition of launching campaigns on these eves in order to help people in need in various regions of the country.

This is the case, for example, of the Tintal Plaza Shopping Center in Bogotá, which organizes a shared value campaign with the Colmena Foundation, with which they will bring more than 200 gifts to the Kennedy sector.

The campaign places an urn during the month of December in the shopping center facilities and people can choose a child, of which they will know their age, size and tastes, and then take the gift.

"Customers decide to 'adopt' one of the children from this foundation and on December 22 we bring the gifts to the place," said David Ortíz, marketing manager of the shopping center.

The Parque Caracolí Shopping Center, in Bucaramanga, is another of the entities that is also carrying out its program. For five years, he has put a giant urn in his facilities to collect donations.

This year, the campaign is focused on pets, with which, until December 24, they will receive dog food and toys in good condition that they will later distribute to the German-Colombian Foundation and the Animal Charity Foundation.

“During the last five years we have benefited hundreds of families with donations that come from the hearts of Floridians and Bumangueses,” said Olga Luna, center manager of the mall.

LOS CONTRASTES

Seguros Sura also joins social initiatives on Christmas eve, this time with the release of its musical album Sura 2020, which was produced by José Gaviria, and which will pay tribute to Joe Stream. The funds raised from the sale of the album will be matched by the Sura Foundation to donate to culture through social programs.

“This edition of the album is very special, because it will be available to the public on different platforms, while we continue to support the musical training of young Colombians, preserving and promoting the diversity of our musical memory”, commented Juan David Escobar Franco, president of Seguros Sura Colombia.

On the other hand, the Grupo Argos Foundation, which has maintained its social initiative "A call to empathy" throughout the year, benefiting more than 116,000 people in 14 departments, for Christmas will focus its aid on vulnerable children from the regions close to their centers of operations.

The entity's goal is to contribute to the education of more than 3,000 children from nearby communities by delivering school kits, so they can start the 2021 school year with the necessary supplies.

“We believe in the transformative power of education and we are committed to the development of our communities,” said Grupo Argos senior director of sustainability, Camilo Abello.

Additionally, the entity will deliver humanitarian aid to families affected by the winter wave and Hurricane Iota in San Andrés and Providencia; Antioch; Bolivar, and Choco.

To date, the entity's initiatives total more than $67 million, and for each donated peso, the Grupo Argos Foundation will contribute the same value, with which the aid already exceeds $134 million.

Continues support for the Archipelago

Some of the companies leading end-of-year social campaigns have focused on continuing to help San Andrés and Providencia, which were greatly affected by Hurricane Iota. This is the case of Avianca, Deprisa and Pro Archipelago, which have designated collection centers to receive aid and later send it to the island.

So far, more than 601 pieces have been received, some 30.4 tons, including non-perishable food, towels, sheets, clothing, shoes and medicines, of which more than 25 have already been sent, 1 tons.
