… SOURCES OF REMITTANCES… The main sources of origin of remittances received in the year continued to be: the United States with 63.8 percent, followed by Spain (14.1%), Costa Rica (12.5%), Panama (3.2%), and Canada (1.4%), among others… In the year, remittances from the United States were received in the amount of 1,370.4 million dollars, being 259.2 million higher (23.3% growth) compared to 2020 (US$1,111.2 million). For their part, remittances from Spain were 301.7 million dollars, which meant an increase of 30.2 million, equivalent to 11.1 percent in year-on-year terms (US$ 271.5 million in 2020)...
… REMITTANCES FELL FROM COSTA RICA AND PANAMA… Flows from Costa Rica totaled 268.7 million dollars, which meant 1.4 million less (-0.5%) than what was received in 2020 (US$ 270.1 million). In relation to remittances from Canada (US$ 30.6 million) and El Salvador (US$ 12.9 million), these registered interannual growth of 29.7 and 5.7 percent, respectively; while those from Panama (US$ 69.9 million) showed a decrease of 2.8 percent (US$ 71.6 million)…
