#NoEsCulpaDeLaClothes: "It is not us who must change the way we dress, it is society that must evolve in its way of thinking" - El Mostrador

There are still prejudices rooted in clothing. The main victims of phrases such as “Dress like a lady”, “Are you going to go out dressed like that?”, “Cover up, you are showing a lot”, “That outfit is not appropriate for your age”, “That happened to you for being in those clothes ”, “Look how she's dressed, that's why they don't respect her” are women. This type of symbolic violence is a reflection of sexist practices that remain latent in society.

This is why the Marina Group launched the campaign #NoEsCulpaDeLa Ropa, which seeks to make these social prejudices visible. For the rest, it aims to invite men and women to join the cause by sharing the campaign video on their social networks, which has the support of well-known female faces such as Angélica Castro, Michelle Adam, Teresita Commentz, Camila Cariaga and Cecilia Gutierrez.

Regarding the message of the campaign, the marketing manager, Carla Ratto, explained that "it is not us who must change the way we dress, it is society that must evolve in its way of thinking, because any aggression against women is not fault of the clothes We have the freedom to dress as we want and we do it for ourselves; prejudice is in the eyes of the beholder, not in the clothes”.

The way we dress is our own decision, in addition to being something significant, since it can define the tastes, personality or even mood of a person. However, "there are still people who justify negative comments because of the skirt, shorts or dress that women wear," she concludes.

The spokeswoman for the campaign, Angélica Castro, extended the invitation to become a participant to “make visible this issue that affects women of all generations, and thus generate real change; It is essential that as a society we evolve in this.”
