Getting oil on a shirt or a tablecloth is classic. The worst is when it is a new garment of a delicate fabric.
One of the most difficult stains to remove from clothing is oil stains.
However, there are excellent home remedies to make fabrics look like new.

If you went out to a meal and got oil on your clothes, the best thing to do is to dab the stain with a paper napkin to prevent it from spreading onto the fabric.
Then, rub with a lot of salt for 5 minutes so that the fat does not penetrate too much into the fabric. It is about removing the oil as soon as possible.
Tip: White wine vinegar is also great for removing stubborn stains, so if there's any lying around, apply some.
Once you are home, soak the garment in soapy water for half an hour, wash gently by hand and then rinse.
If the grease stain is very stubborn, use 90° alcohol: a few drops and the stain will disappear. Then wash the garment with soap and water.
Thanks to citric acid, lemon is an excellent degreaser, but you have to be careful not to spoil that elegant dress that you love so much.

Rub a slice of lemon on the oiled part and wash the garment in hot water with detergent, so you can easily remove the stain.
One of the most traditional methods for removing oil stains is talcum powder, which is great for removing grease from clothing (this is how clothing designers remove it when sewing machines drip onto garments).
Spread a good amount of talcum powder on the stain, let it rest and then brush: the grease will be reabsorbed.
Even cornstarch, applied to oil stains on clothing, especially if they are fresh, absorbs grease very well and prevents grease from sticking too much to the fabric, much like talcum powder does. After applying it, wait for a while and then brush it off.

To remove body oil stains left on a dress, simply chop up some chalk, rub it into the stained area with a toothbrush, and then wash the garment.
Baking soda, which is also used in cooking and beauty, very effectively removes the most resistant grease stains, thanks to its astringent and whitening properties, as well as stubborn dirt, preventing them from adhering to the fabric.
After rubbing it on the oil stained area, you can add wine vinegar, then brush and wash the garment.
Dishwasher detergent tends to be more of a degreaser than dish detergent, and can remove oil stains from clothing well.
It should be applied on the oiled part, rub a little, not too vigorously (the fabric of the garment can be damaged and shed lint or be eroded by the product) and then rinse with hot water.
Carbonated drinks are also excellent degreasers and stain removers thanks to the carbon dioxide they contain.
Fill a tray with water and two glasses of mineral water. Leave the garment in the water for an hour and then wash it with detergent by hand or in the washing machine.
To remove stains without washing the garment, you can try an iron.
Cut a bread bag out of butcher paper. Lay the paper over the stain, then run the hot iron over it. The heat transfers the fat from the garment to the paper. Repeat this process until you can completely get rid of the oil stain.
Tip: Do not iron or tumble dry a garment that has had previous oil stains, as the heat can make the grease visible again.
