After quite a few reviews and reflections on what should (or shouldn't) be menswear in 2022, the conclusion is here. And it is not simple or “lightly” at all. After a difficult period of two years in shelter, separated as much as possible from each other thanks to a health crisis that shook our history, the men's wardrobe is reconfigured again; perhaps in a more dramatic way than in the spectrum of "the feminine", although that is precisely another of the barriers that are beginning to be considered as outdated at this moment in humanity.
You will remember that there was a decisive moment in menswear during the pandemic, when we saw the emergence of a new formality, the triumph of the color black among other neutral tones and a more relaxed code of office-looks. Well. Well, we can feel confident that we can take what we already learned during confinement, but now add one or another element that adds fun, fantasy and emotion to what we wear. Among all that we have been seeing for this year, we can tell you that there are several bold proposals that are already betting on the recovery of our social lives and a more hectic pace.
Below are our favourites. Those that stand out decidedly from the rest and that, without a doubt, are for the man who is not afraid of anything. Much less when it comes to fashion.
Creative and suggestive cuts to show the masculine skin can be seen for this 2022. In a key of greater sensuality and less fear towards our bodies —and of others— the windows of the dress are a new possibility in the contemporary man's wardrobe. One more step to achieve fashion without gender.
Knitwear remains, but now with graphics that directly refer us to the most naive episodes of the 70s —when everything was so, so optimistic— or to the most psychedelic moments of the present. From sweaters to tanks, t-shirts and vests you can trust that you are doing the right thing. Remember that knitwear can be worn ALL year round.
Neon, fluorescent and electric colors rule the possibilities of 2022 menswear. Definitely a proposal that goes for the bold, but also for a positive change in our way of thinking and a more risky attitude wherever we go. Is it time to walk half measures? OBVIOUSLY NOT. Whether knee-length or in maxi format, skirts are a theme for this year. Checkered, plain, very light, frilly or hypervolumetric, you must get used to the idea that you need a pair in your wardrobe. In addition, it was during the pandemic period when we realized that what is really important in our daily clothing is to wear what makes us feel comfortable. So, exploring the comfort and sensuality towards these other garments is more than valid. It is, in a nutshell, a need that we have learned to listen to at this time. Do you need more reasons? With a very particular look and something rocker we have seen that the sophistication and sensuality of wearing high heels reaches the male foot. A daring decision —endorsed by Harry Styles and many others— that, like all those listed here, we hope will soon stop being seen as a RISK and simply become other elements for any human being on this planet.
