Egonlab, a fashion brand with one foot in the real world and another in the virtual

Paris - Egonlab is a French brand that paraded for the first time this Tuesday at the Paris Masculine Fashion Week, and that at the same time version its products in the virtual world, that metaverso that so much intrigue and expectation awakens in the sector.

Two French young people, Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix, are the founders of Egonlab."We have created catwalks with the past and we will create catwalks with the future, with a community (of very young people) that did not know each other," explains Kévin Nompeix in an interview with AFP.

Egonlab began its journey just two years ago and caused a sensation with a series of virtual presentations."We use social networks to uncheck others," explains his co -founder to the AFP.

But not just networks. The other founder of the brand, Florentin Glémarec, also twenty -year.

Punk grandparents

The grandfather was a sailor in his youth, the grandmother distributed newspapers.Neither short nor lazy, both dressed in Egonlab to lend a hand to the grandson. His poses on the Instagram account of the brand had fun fans.

"They supported us from the beginning, they came to the workshops to try on clothes. It all started with a grandfather's joke: 'I also want to be a model' "Remember Florentin Glémarec.

"We find photos of both, young, punk, very egonlab. Now we do not imagine the DNA of the brand without them, "explains this young creator.

Former model, Florentin Glémarec parades for AFP with a black coat of large shoulder pads.A "structured and dynamic" cut, explains.

Then it presents a creation based on Mohair that simulates a skins coat, above a white and blue shirt with esoteric motifs.

The clothes are unisex, the skirts the same go to a man than a woman, the coats are oversized.

"It is necessary for the credibility of a collection. It can't be just male or female, "says Kévin Nompeix."Gender, sexuality, the acceptance of everyone is something we believe totally," he explains.

Some "crocs" with swarovski crystals

Egonlab presented his works in a parade of Gothic airs at the Louvre Oratory, in Paris.

The models paraded between candles, dressed in black clothes.

"It's a consecration. All brands want to parade, and have been accepted in the official calendar is super important to us, "said Florentin Glémarec.

"People want to return to the physical, fashion is an art that is lived, not only an art that is contemplated. You have to feel the movement of clothing, tissue density, "says Kévin Nompeix.

"The screen is a good alternative, but people need to live this moment (physical) during the pandemic so as not to stay in that virtual bubble," he added.

Another collaboration that arouses curiosity is its transformation of the Crocs, a brand of plastic shoes that was created 20 years ago.

If used by nurses, or to go to the beach, the crocs became an irrevent fashion complement, which the same appears on a red carpet that in a Balenciaga parade (in 2018).

Egonlab presented them virtually, through projections in the oratory balustradas, "sublimated with Swarovski crystals to demonstrate that they are a national treasure," said Kévin Nompeix."A wink to honor health professionals" in times of pandemic.

Five models of virtual crocs will be sold at auction in metaverso, and part of the benefits will go to associations that facilitate access to the digital world to the most disadvantaged population.(AFP)
