Men's fashion trends for wedding guests

For years some Colombians tend to think that men's fashion has not evolved in the country, while suits, colors, accessories and all that piece conceived by and to surprise others is increasingly present and alive in the streets of the cities. from Colombia.

So much has been the current impulse that the new generations give to what they wear, that that manifestation of beauty in good dress begins to be noticed also in men's wedding suits.

For last year, according to data from the Superintendence of Notaries and Registry, 34,525 couples were married in the country, a somewhat short figure considering the restrictions that were due to the pandemic. However, trying to finish 2021 and thanks to the social and economic reopening, the number of weddings continues to increase.

It is not a minor fact, since both brides and grooms want their wedding to be perfect. And now it is a trend that who is getting married and her godparents find the ideal suit to complement the image of the ceremony.

It is not a minor fact that both brides and grooms want their wedding to be perfect, and something fundamental is the photos. Photographs are taken of everything in order to capture moments, feelings and a lot of beauty. But now for who is going to get married and her godparents, it is quite a challenge to live up to that image of the ceremony.

In this way, the groomsmen are beginning to move away from classic suits, and prefer to use the presence of colors and transgression through the use of elegant but striking accessories that manage to capture the attention of the public.

According to Alejandra Brizio, designer and co-founder of Soloio, a clothing firm specializing in menswear, the garments worn by the witnesses have to stand out, since the whole world lays eyes on them, "and they may wear the best suit in the world, but the they will remember in the end by the tie they wear”.

“In addition, the bride and groom now want to get the best of memories and their godparents are fundamental, since they are more than their friends, a 'family'. And in that special moment they should complement each other, form a team and stand out for their suits or ties that are of a certain color and that can be turquoise, pink, light blue or aqua green. In this way, the photographic memories will be much better and give that group halo that everyone loves”, highlighted the designer Alejandra Brizio.

However, within this search for the exaltation of male beauty, other accessories are also beginning to stand out, such as vests with different check patterns, flowers or bright colors, highlighting the shoulders and waist. But also the suspenders, which are beginning to replace the belts at weddings and must make a perfect match with the tie.

Likewise, the designer and co-founder of Soloio decided to point out the three fashion trends that both grooms and groomsmen are beginning to use around the world and she is beginning to take her first steps in Colombia:

  1. The sea and the tropical: Weddings near the sea, open-air meadows or warm places in Colombia, are also becoming a trend and are becoming the option that more and more couples are looking for to get engaged.

Following this line, you can see the godparents wearing, above all, linen garments, fresh and stimulating. "They don't have to be guayaberas, perfectly ironed linen shirts are a more modern alternative, albeit of very high quality and subdued colors such as light blue, aqua green or light pink."

  1. In the best style of the Camargue valleys: Provence, is a region in the southeast of France that is characterized by the Camargue valleys, a place that stands out for its multiple colors due to the variety of vineyards, olive groves, pine forests and fields of lavender that can be found. In this case, nature is also a symbol of inspiration that the groomsmen can wear with basic suits and cheerful and colorful accessories, or mauve suits, perfectly in tune with the lavender fields.
  2. The paintings of Scotland: Perhaps the paintings are a manifestation that comes to mind for many when they think of those popular Scottish skirts. Now, they serve as an example to bring out a tuxedo that stands out for combining both the blazer and the pants with checkered prints on a maroon base, and although it is somewhat daring, it can stand out for its elegance, as long as you do not forget the fabrics with which this clothing is made.

For this season Soloio seeks to promote a clothing line for weddings, in which she wants to delve into the idea of new generations, social networks, practicality and the immediacy of capturing reality through visual media. For this reason, they work in a new style more oriented towards creating idyllic moments and transcendent and unforgettable memories for both the groom and the bride.

“Furthermore, we are studying using print shirts and plain ties as an alternative but for guests, and we are also seeking to propose alternatives to the guayabera,” concluded Alejandra Brizio.
