The Prosecutor's Office of the Principality of Asturias requests the conviction of a woman accused of cutting the heads of 15 chickens, roosters and pigeons in order to perform a ritual in Salas. The oral hearing is scheduled for Thursday, 2 December 2021, in Criminal Court No. 1 in Oviedo, at 10 a.m.
The Department of Public Prosecutions maintains that the 46-year-old accused, on an unspecified date but in any case between 25 and 30 January 2019, either herself or through an intermediate person, and for the purpose of performing a ritual, cut the heads of 15 animals (chickens, roosters and pigeons), causing them to die. He then deposited them, covered in white garments, along with fruits, fish, rice, underwear and coins, at the base of the trees in the area of viso, in the town of Salas.
The Office of the Public Prosecutor considers the facts to constitute a continuing offence of animal abuse and requests that the accused be sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment and special disqualification from practising by profession, trade or trade involving animals, as well as for the holding of animals, for a period of four years.
