Some photos of Alexia from the Netherlands spark controversy in her country: "We live in North Korea"

Much is being said on social networks about Queer week held by UWC Atlantic College, the Welsh boarding school where Princess Eleanor studies. The intention of the center is to give visibility to young people who feel identified with the LGTBIQ+ collective, which according to a survey of its students represents 32%, while 12% say they have doubts about their reality. The celebration of Queer Week included some events, such as a parade in underwear and other initiatives, and in those celebrations was also Princess Alexia of the Netherlands, a fellow student of the Princess of Asturias.

The middle daughter of Guillermo and Máxima actively participated in that party along with her classmates, and even posed scantily clad with friends, some images that ended up being posted on Instagram and that they have not hesitated to publish in the Dutch media 'Ditjes en Datjes', who have not cared that Alexia is a minor, nor have they feared the Dutch Government, which is always very harsh with the non-agreed photos of the royal family. Although, and according to the specialist in the Dutch royal family Rick Evers, on this occasion the RVD can do little against these images, since Alexia is aware of her existence and they were publicly on a social network.

"This is about an underage girl who hasn't chosen her position or the attention that comes with it. Fortunately, Princess Alexia herself generally doesn't mind leaking such images," Evers says. Not so her parents, who more than two decades ago decided to make a pact with the media in order to lead as normal a life as possible. This agreement guarantees that unwanted images of the Orange do not appear, and if it is not complied with, it can lead to legal penalties, as happened in 2014 with the magazine 'Nieuwe Revu', which had to pay 1,000 euros for publishing two photos of Amalia playing hockey.

Some photos of Alexia from Holland unleash the controversy in her country:

However, it seems that there is a legal vacuum with those images for which Alexia herself poses and are uploaded to the networks. “It would have been very different if the image had been taken by a tabloid photographer, for example. But now the images are already on the net. It's not nice from 'Ditjes en Datjes' -due to the fact that she's a minor-, but I don't think there are really sanctions. They may be able to send an email from the Government Information Service to have the article removed, but nothing more."

Given the commotion caused by the images of Alexia, the Dutch have once again shown their discontent on the networks with this media pact that exists in the Netherlands, since some consider it censorship. The journalist and writer Hans Jacobs has written on his Twitter account: "We live in North Korea. Among other things, articles or photos are not allowed online whose content has not been first verified by the Government Information Service... No there is more nonsense."

The truth is that it is not the first time that images or videos of Alexia have circulated through the media and forums. According to Rick Evers, "Kings encourage their daughters to protect their own social media channels and ask their peers and friends to do the same, even though like so many girls that age, they experience things they like to share with the outside world." ". And so they do. However, Evers believes that, after the publication of the images, Alexia will receive a call from her parents from Huis ten Bosch to remind her how important privacy is in her position.
