New trailer for Spiderman: Far From Home
The science-fiction saga 'Star Wars' will release three new films in the months of December 2022, 2024 and 2026, Disney announced in a statement. Neither the title nor the plot of these films that will hit theaters coinciding with the Christmas holidays are yet known, a period usually reserved for big movie premieres and films that promise to sweep the box office.
Among the 'Star Wars' projects in development are a new trilogy under the orders of Rian Johnson, the director of 'Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi' (2017), as well as three other films about this same science universe -fiction by David Benioff and DB Weiss, who are the creators of the hit series 'Game of Thrones'.
The saga devised by George Lucas will premiere in December 'Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker', a film that closes its third trilogy and which, under the direction of JJ Abrams, includes Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac.
On the other hand, Disney, which closed the acquisition of 21st Century Fox last March, revealed that the four sequels to 'Avatar' (2009) that James Cameron is preparing will be released later than expected. Thus, the new release plan for the 'Avatar' films, which have already accumulated several delays, stipulates that 'Avatar 2' will be released in December 2021.
Disney will try to take advantage of the Christmas holidays with 'Avatar' so that in 2023 it will release 'Avatar 3'; in 2025 it will launch 'Avatar 4'; and in 2027 he will present 'Avatar 5'. With 2,788 million dollars grossed, 'Avatar' is the highest grossing film in history worldwide without taking into account inflation. However, 'Avengers: Endgame' (2018) could soon break that mark, since in just two weeks on the big screen it has added 2,189 million that have placed it as the second most successful film of all time.
Disney detailed that in December 2020 both the new 'West Side Story' by Steven Spielberg, and 'Cruella', with Emma Stone as the villain of '101 Dalmatians', will be released. Also, with Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy, which has been delayed numerous times, is now listed for an April 2020 release.
