Sleep in pajamas or sleep naked? There are seasons when your pajamas are going to seem like the best option (like when it's cold outside), but that's not necessarily the case.
Believe it or not, "is it bad to sleep without underwear?" is one of the most frequent questions men ask on Google, and it's time to find out the truth about the benefits of sleeping naked once and for all (which may not be the best option if you live in places with recurring earthquakes, but It is certainly a good option for health).
At some point in life, someone decided that people needed special clothes to sleep, it was not worth just taking off what we were wearing (because getting into bed with the clothes you wore to leave the house is the most unpleasant thing you can do) and put the "birthday suit" to bed, we had to dress again in something that was comfortable enough not to interrupt the hours of sleep. Remember that sleeping poorly makes you less intelligent, and your pajamas could be contributing to that.
The reality is that person probably had the best intentions, but she was wrong, sleeping in pajamas doesn't benefit anyone (ok, maybe babies and cold ones).
Why should you sleep naked?
Clothes generate a stressful feeling, which decreases as you take off your clothes (that's why someone is always taking off their jacket or tie in stressful situations in movies). Experts say that sleeping naked helps you rest better and have a deeper sleep, this is because there are fewer tensions.
Keeping your body cooler not only helps you fall asleep faster, it also improves your overall quality of sleep. A 2012 study from the National Institutes of Health found that the temperature of the room where you sleep is one of the most important factors in achieving quality sleep. (And if you combine this with the military trick to fall asleep in less than two minutes, you have the winning combination)
Because sleeping naked can help increase your overall sleep quality, it can also improve your skin. A small study looked at whether lack of sleep limited the skin's ability to heal a small wound, and what they found was that the group that slept well recovered faster than the other two groups.
Not always, but all that clothing raises your temperature, makes you sweat, and makes your body an optimal environment for bacteria to grow, which can cause infections. Ventilation is essential to avoid it.
Sleeping naked definitely makes things easier, plus it increases the chances that your partner will get into the mood by noticing that you're not wearing anything under the covers, and they don't have to do any risky maneuvers to remove your clothes.
In fact, one study found that skin-to-skin contact between adults stimulates the release of oxytocin, which plays an important role in bonding between partners.
If you want to have many children, this is good news. Sleeping without clothes increases fertility in men for two reasons: first, room temperature is best, and second, a Harvard University study found that wearing tight underwear negatively impacts sperm production.
Yes, being cold forces the body to burn calories to stay warm. Additionally, one study followed more than 21,000 people for three years and found a possible link between inadequate sleep and weight gain. People who reportedly slept equal to or less than 5 hours a night were more likely to gain weight.
According to Healthline, sleeping naked is also a great way to get in touch with your body and boost your self-esteem. One study found that spending time naked helped boost self-esteem and overall body image, which does great things for your self-esteem.
